About Us

Susan Newton, MS, CCC-SLP

Susan M. Newton, M.S., CCC has 25 years of profession al experience as a Speech Language Pathologist. She is licensed by the New York State Education Department and holds the Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech Language Pathology from the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association. She earned a M.S. degree in Speech Pathology from Adelphi University and A Bachelor of Arts Degree in Teacher of the Speech and Hearing Handicapped from Plattsburgh State University College. She maintains membership in the American, N.Y.S. and Long Island Speech Language and Hearing Associations.

In addition to traditional speech and language therapy, Ms. Newton incorporates oral motor therapy including myofunctional/tongue thrust therapy, and developmental feeding and swallowing therapy for those who do not respond well to the traditional treatment of articulation and phonological delays.

Aside from her professional experience, she has personal experience in raising four children with diverse learning styles and abilities. She has served her community as an active leader in the Parent Teacher Association at the school and council level for 14 years. She has served on numerous educational committees for her local school district, successfully spearheaded a committee to increase the “safety net” for NYS graduation requirements for Special Education students as well as organized two community-wide district health fairs.

Ms. Newton is dedicated to individualizing her services to meet the diverse needs of her patients and helping them achieve their own potential using fun and functional activities.


Lillian Agresta, MS, CCC-SLP

Lillian Agresta graduated with a B. A. degree in psychology from Long Island University at the C. W. Post campus in 1972. Her summers were spent at Montefiore Hospital as a research assistant in the pediatric neuropsychology department. In 1977 Lillian took her M. S. degree in speech science from Adelphi University. She completed her certification and Teacher of the Speech & Hearing Handicapped in 1978. Upon receiving certification Lillian was employed at the Babylon Union Free School District between 1978 and 1986 as a speech therapist. During her tenure, she implemented a speech language and hearing program for grades k-12. As the only speech therapist employed by the district, her case load consisted of 75-95 students from 3 district schools and 1 private school.

Following her years at the Babylon school district, Lillian joined a practice working solely with adults and children who stutter.

In 1982, Lillian received her certificate of clinical competency & New York state licensure enabling her to practice privately. She began treating children with speech & language problems in their homes.

Lillian maintains a private practice at Long Island Stuttering & Speech Pathology Center in East Northport, New York. She treats adults & children with speech,language and fluency disorders. The focus in her practice is to treat and counsel children and adults who stutter which also includes counseling families.

Lillian is a member of the American Speech and Hearing Association, as well as a member of its Special Interest Division 4 - Fluency Disorders; New York State Speech and Hearing Association and Long Island Speech & Hearing Association. Lillian lives on Long Island, New York with her husband and two children. Her daughter stuttered as a youngster and enjoys fluency as a young adult.
